green tea
Well, hello there, young folks! Let me tell ya ’bout this matcha milk green tea, it’s all the rage now, or so my grandkids tell me. They’re always sippin’ on somethin’ fancy, and this here matcha thing is one of ’em.
First off, what in the world is it? It ain’t your regular ol’ tea, that’s for sure. You know, the kind you steep in a bag? Nope, this here matcha is different. It’s like, uh… powder, yeah, powder. They grind up the tea leaves real fine, like flour, but green. Makes it kinda cloudy lookin’ when you mix it with water.
Now, the milk part, that’s easy enough. You just dump some milk in there with the green powder stuff. Any kind of milk will do, I reckon. My grandaughter uses that almond milk, says it’s better for ya. Me? I’d probably just use regular cow’s milk, the kind we used to get straight from the farm, remember those days? Anyways, you mix it all up, and there ya go, matcha milk tea.
Some folks like it sweet, some don’t. If you’re one of them sweet-tooth types, you can add a bit of sugar, or honey, or whatever tickles your fancy. My grandson, he puts in that fancy syrup stuff, vanilla or somethin’. Kids these days, always gotta have somethin’ extra, eh?
So, how’s it different from regular green tea? Well, like I said, it’s powder, not leaves. And that makes a big difference, they say. See, when you drink regular green tea, you’re steeping the leaves and then tossin’ ’em out. But with matcha, you’re drinkin’ the whole leaf, ground up and all. That means you’re gettin’ more of the good stuff, whatever that is. Ant…antee…oh, you know, those things that are supposed to be good for ya. My grandaughter says it gives you energy, but I ain’t noticed nothin’ special myself.
I tried it once, you know. My grandaughter made me a cup. It tasted…green, if that makes any sense. A little bit bitter, kinda earthy, nothin’ like the sweet tea I’m used to. But, it wasn’t bad, I guess. Just different. And it sure did make a pretty green color in the cup.
Where do you get this stuff? Well, I hear they sell it in them fancy stores, the ones with all the organic stuff and prices that make your eyes water. But my grandaughter, she buys it online. Says it’s cheaper that way. Everything’s online these days, ain’t it? You can buy anything from your couch, even green tea powder from who-knows-where.
Is it worth all the fuss? I dunno, to be honest. Seems like a lot of trouble for a cup of tea, if you ask me. But young folks, they like it. They say it’s healthy, and it makes ’em feel good. And I guess that’s all that matters, right? If it makes you happy, go for it. Me? I’ll stick to my regular ol’ coffee, thank you very much.
But hey, don’t let this old woman discourage ya. If you’re curious, give it a try. You might just like it. And if you don’t, well, at least you can say you tried it. Just don’t expect it to taste like your grandma’s sweet tea, ’cause it sure ain’t nothin’ like that.
And another thing, them fancy folks got all sorts of ways to make this matcha stuff. They got lattes, and smoothies, and even ice cream. Seems like they’ll put it in anything these days. It’s like the new kale, remember when kale was all the rage? Always gotta be somethin’ new, I guess. Keeps things interestin’, right?
