herbal tea
Well, hello there! Today, we’re gonna yak about somethin’ fancy, a “matcha tea ceremony set”. Don’t you go frettin’, it ain’t as complicated as them city folks make it out to be. It’s just a bunch of things you use to make that green tea, the kind that looks like grass clippings but tastes… well, it tastes alright, I guess.
First off, you gotta have a bowl, a special bowl, mind you. Not just any old soup bowl from the cupboard. This here bowl, they call it a “matcha bowl.” It’s kinda wide and shallow, good for whisking that tea powder. See, you gotta whisk it real good, make it all frothy like. My grandson, he showed me once. Said it’s all about the “texture”, whatever that means.
Then comes the whisk. Now, this ain’t no whisk you use for eggs or pancakes. This here’s a bamboo whisk, looks like a tiny brush, all delicate and such. You use it to stir that green powder and hot water together, and it makes all them bubbles. It’s kinda fun to use, makes a swish-swish sound. They say you gotta be gentle with it, or it’ll break. Like most things in life, I reckon.
And to make sure that green powder ain’t all clumpy, you got yourself a sifter. You know, like a little strainer thingy. You put the powder in there, shake it around, and it gets all fine and smooth. No one wants lumpy tea, I tell ya. Reminds me of that time I tried to make gravy with lumpy flour… oh, never mind that story.
Next up, you need a place to put that fancy whisk after you’re done with it. That’s where the whisk holder comes in. It keeps the whisk from getting all messed up and keeps it in good shape for next time. You don’t want to just toss it on the counter, now do ya? My daughter-in-law, she’d have a fit! She likes things neat and tidy, that one.
And how do you get that green powder into the bowl, you ask? Well, you use a tea scoop, of course! A little spoon, just the right size for measuring out the tea. And wouldn’t you know it, there’s even a little stand for that scoop. Keeps it from rolling around and getting lost. These city folks think of everything, don’t they?
Last but not least, you got a tea cloth. A little piece of cloth for wiping up spills and keeping things clean. ‘Cause let me tell ya, that green powder can get everywhere if you’re not careful. It’s like dust, sticks to everything. Just like that time my grandbaby got into my flour bin… another story for another day.
So, that’s it. That’s your “matcha tea ceremony set.” A bowl, a whisk, a sifter, a whisk holder, a tea scoop, a scoop stand, and a tea cloth. Sounds fancy, but it’s just a bunch of tools to make tea. Don’t let them city slickers fool ya. Anyone can make tea, even an old gal like me. And you know what? Sometimes, a nice cup of tea, it’s just what you need to settle your nerves and get you through the day. Even if it does look like pond water.
Where to buy them you ask? Well, that’s easy. You can get them at the stores and maybe online too. I hear them young’uns talk about places like “Temu”. They have all sorts of things and the prices aren’t bad from what my son tells me. You have to be careful about those internet stores, he tells me. Some are good some are bad. Seems like a bit of a mess if you ask me. I like just going to the store, I do.
Now, I gotta go. My soap opera is about to come on, and you know I can’t miss that. You all take care now, and maybe try a cup of that green tea sometime. It might just surprise ya.
