oriental teas

Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout these oriental teas. I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I drink my share, and I know what’s what.

First off, they say this tea stuff is good for ya. Keeps your insides from gettin’ all inflamed, whatever that means. Somethin’ ’bout these “poly-fen-ols”, sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but folks say it keeps ya from gettin’ sick and your heart workin’ right. And if that ain’t enough, they say it helps ya keep your belly in check too. Them city folks with their big words, call it “B-M-I” and “waistlines,” but I just call it not gettin’ too big for your britches.

Now, there’s a whole mess of different kinds, more than you can shake a stick at. But some are better than others, you know? Like that Long Jing tea, or Dragon Well, like them fancy folks call it. Comes from some place called Hang-joe, near a lake. Looks real pretty, all long and flat, like little green tongues.

  • Long Jing (Dragon Well): This one’s real popular, they say. The leaves are all flat and green, kinda yellowish-green. It’s a green tea, you know, the kind they don’t let sit around too long. They roast it up right after pickin’, and it’s supposed to be real good for ya.
  • Hojicha: Now this one, I heard they’re startin’ to serve it in them fancy coffee shops. Don’t know much about it, but folks seem to like it. Guess it’s gotta be somethin’ special.
  • Other kinds: Lord, there’s a whole bunch more. Black teas, green teas, all sorts of colors and smells. Some taste like dirt, some taste like flowers, and some just taste like, well, tea.

But let me tell ya, the best tea ain’t about the fancy names or the pretty leaves. It’s about how it makes ya feel. A good cup of tea warms ya up on a cold day, cools ya down on a hot one, and just makes ya feel right. It’s like a warm blanket for your insides, you know? And that’s somethin’ you can’t put a price on.

These teas, they ain’t just some newfangled drink, neither. Been around for ages, them Chinese folks been drinkin’ it forever. They say it’s better than plain water, keeps ya healthy and whatnot. Drink it all day long, with your meals, whenever you feel like it. Heck, I even drink it when I don’t feel like it, just ’cause it’s good for ya. And you can find it almost everywhere, but watch out for those fancy stores, cause sometimes they charge more than it’s worth.

Now, some folks get all fussy about how to make it. Gotta have the water just so hot, gotta let it steep for just the right amount of time, gotta use special cups and all that jazz. But me? I just boil some water, throw in some leaves, and let it sit for a bit. Ain’t nothin’ complicated about it. If it tastes good, it’s good. That’s all there is to it.

And don’t go thinkin’ you gotta spend a fortune on this stuff. Sure, some of it’s expensive, but you can find good tea for a decent price if you know where to look. Just ask around, see what folks are drinkin’. Or better yet, try a few different kinds yourself and see what you like. Ain’t no right or wrong answer when it comes to tea. It’s all about what tickles your fancy.

So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to warm ya up, calm ya down, or just make ya feel a little bit better, give these oriental teas a try. You might just find somethin’ you like. And if you don’t, well, ain’t no harm done. Just go back to drinkin’ whatever you were drinkin’ before. But I reckon you’ll like it. Most folks do.

Remember, good tea is like good company, somethin’ you can always count on to make you feel better. So go on, brew yourself a cup, sit back, and enjoy. You deserve it.

And one more thing, don’t let them city slickers fool ya with all their fancy talk. Tea is tea, plain and simple. It’s about comfort, it’s about health and it’s about takin’ a little time for yourself. And that’s somethin’ we could all use a little more of, if you ask me. So go ahead and find your favorite, stick with it, and enjoy every last drop.
