ginger tea
Okay, so the other day I was craving something warm and cozy, but I was also kinda in the mood for something sweet and refreshing. That’s when I thought, “Why not try making that peppermint white chocolate tea I’ve seen floating around?” I’m no expert, but I figured, how hard could it be? Turns out, it’s pretty darn easy!
First, I gathered all my ingredients. I already had some basic black tea bags, so that was a start. I also grabbed:
I started by brewing a strong cup of black tea. I let it steep for a good 5 minutes, you know, to get all that tea flavor in there. While the tea was brewing, I poured about a cup of milk into a small saucepan. I added a handful of white chocolate chips – maybe 1/4 cup? I just eyeballed it, honestly. I also put that pan on the stove over low heat, stirring constantly, until all the chocolate was melted and smooth. Careful not to burn it!
Once the chocolate was melted, I added about 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Now, be careful with this stuff, it’s potent! You can always add more, but you can’t take it away. I also stirred in a spoonful of sugar because, like I said, sweet tooth.
Then,I poured the hot tea into a mug,and add the peppermint white hot chocalate, I stirred well and tasted. I added a tiny drop more peppermint, because I wanted that real minty kick.
I topped it all off with a generous dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed candy canes.
And that’s it! Seriously, it was so easy and so delicious. It was the perfect combination of warm, sweet, and minty. Perfect for a chilly evening or, let’s be real, any time of day. I’m definitely making this again. Maybe I’ll even try it with dark chocolate next time. Ooh, or maybe add some marshmallows… The possibilities are endless!
