Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole matcha thing during pregnancy, and let me tell you, it’s a bit of a wild ride. I’m pregnant, and I really love matcha, so I definitely wanted to see if I could keep enjoying it.
First off, I started looking around to see what people were saying about drinking matcha while pregnant. Turns out, it’s mostly okay, but you gotta watch out for the caffeine. I mean, we all know too much caffeine isn’t great when you’re expecting, right?
So, I found out that the magic number is 200 milligrams of caffeine a day. That’s like the limit for pregnant ladies. With that in mind, I figured I could probably still have some matcha, but I needed to be smart about it.
Next, I did some math. If a cup of matcha has around 70 milligrams of caffeine, I could have about two to three cups a day and still be under that 200-milligram limit. That sounded pretty good to me! Of course, I also had to think about other stuff I drink, like coffee or tea, because that caffeine adds up too.
All in all, it’s been going pretty well. I get to enjoy my matcha, and I’m not freaking out about the caffeine. The key is just being mindful and not going overboard. I also noticed that green tea sometimes made my blood pressure go up a bit, so I watched out for that, too. And some folks talk about liver problems with loads of green tea, but I didn’t really worry about that since I wasn’t drinking that much.
If you’re pregnant and love matcha like me, I’d say go for it, but just be smart about it. Keep track of your caffeine, chat with your doctor, and listen to your body. You got this!
