Okay, so today I wanted to try something new, and I went for Shui Xian Oolong tea. I’d heard about it from a few friends, and it sounded pretty interesting. This tea is also called “Sacred Lily,” which sounds kind of fancy, right?

I started by getting my hands on some of these tea leaves. They were kind of dark and twisty, not like the green teas I’m used to. Then, I heated up some water. You don’t want it boiling hot for this tea, just kind of simmering. I used my regular teapot for this, nothing special.

I put the tea leaves into the teapot and poured the hot water over them. I let it sit there for a few minutes, just letting the leaves do their thing. The smell that started coming out was pretty amazing. It was kind of flowery, but also a little woodsy, if that makes sense. It was definitely different from any tea I’d had before.

  • First brew: I poured out the tea after about 3 minutes. The color was a nice golden-brown. I took a sip, and wow, it was smooth. There was a bit of a sweet taste, and that flowery smell translated into the flavor too.
  • Second brew: I added more hot water to the same leaves and let it steep a bit longer this time, maybe around 4 minutes. The flavor got a bit stronger, but it was still really good. It wasn’t bitter at all, which was nice.
  • Third brew: By this point, I was just experimenting. I did another round of hot water, and this time I let it steep for like 5 minutes. The flavor started to fade a bit, but it was still enjoyable.

My Thoughts

So, after trying out Shui Xian Oolong, I can see why people like it so much. It’s a really relaxing tea, and the flavor is something special. I’ve heard you can find it at most Chinese restaurants, so that’s something I might do next time I’m eating out.

This whole experience was pretty fun. I enjoyed sitting there, sipping my tea, and just chilling out for a bit. I’d say it’s definitely worth trying if you’re into tea. It’s not just a drink; it’s kind of an experience, you know?
