Well, let me tell you, I’ve been drinking this lemon ginger tea for I don’t know how long. My old bones ain’t what they used to be, you know? But this here tea, it helps. It really does. It’s simple, like most good things in life. Ain’t nothin’ fancy about it. Just good, honest ingredients, like what we used to grow in our garden back in the day.

First, you gotta get yourself some ginger. That’s the root, you know, looks kinda like a lumpy old potato, but it’s spicy! Not like them hot peppers that burn your mouth, but a good, warm spice. You just need a little piece, maybe about this big. Fresh ginger root is the best, I always say. Them dried up powders just ain’t the same.

  • Fresh ginger root, about 2 inches
  • Lemons, 1 or 2, fresh is best!
  • Honey, if you like it sweet
  • Water, of course!

Then, you need some lemons. Nice, juicy ones. Not them hard little things they sell at the fancy store. We used to have a lemon tree, right outside the kitchen window. My grandma, bless her soul, she’d make us lemonade every summer. This lemon ginger tea reminds me of her, in a way. Anyway, you need a lemon or two for this tea.

Now, you gotta peel that ginger. Just scrape it off with a spoon, easy peasy. Then, you slice it up. Thin slices, like you’re slicing a cucumber for a sandwich. Don’t need to be perfect, just get it all sliced up. Some folks, they grate it. Too much work for these old hands, I say. Slicing is just fine. After slicing, put them into hot water.

Then, you squeeze the juice out of them lemons. Every last drop! We used to have one of them old-fashioned squeezers, the kind you twist. Worked like a charm. These days, they got all these fancy gadgets. Don’t need ’em. Just use your hands, that’s what I always say. Get that good lemon juice, that’s what matters. And add the lemon juice into the hot water with ginger.

Now, you gotta boil some water. Just plain old water, nothing special. Get it nice and hot, bubbling like a pot of stew on a cold day. Then, you pour that hot water over your ginger and lemon. Just pour it right in the cup. Or a pot, if you’re making a big batch for the whole family.

Let it sit for a bit. Steep, they call it. Like letting your clothes soak in the wash tub before you scrub ’em. Just let the ginger and lemon do their thing in that hot water. Five minutes, ten minutes, whatever you like. Longer it sits, stronger it gets. I like mine strong, helps with my aches and pains.

Some folks, they like to add a little honey. Makes it sweet, you know? Like a little treat. We used to get our honey from old Mr. Henderson, down the road. He had the best honey. Always said it was good for what ails ya. He was right, I reckon. So, if you like it sweet, add a spoonful of honey. Stir it up real good.

And that’s it! That’s all there is to it. Simple, right? This lemon ginger tea, it’s good for you. It warms you up on a cold night. It soothes your throat when you got a little tickle. It just makes you feel good, inside and out. I always drink my lemon ginger tea without milk. Feels better.

I drink it before bed, mostly. Helps me sleep. Like a warm hug from the inside. And in the morning, I feel a little better. Not like I’m young again, mind you. But better. This old body, it appreciates the little things. And this tea, it’s one of those little things that makes a big difference.

So, you go on and try it. Make yourself a cup of this lemon ginger tea. It’s good for the body, good for the soul. Just like the old days, when things were simpler. And tastier, too. You won’t regret it, I promise you that. It is simple to make and only needs few things. Just remember, fresh ginger and fresh lemon, that is the key. I bet you will like it, just like me. It just makes you feel better. It’s like magic, almost. But it ain’t magic, it’s just nature. Good old nature, taking care of us, like it always has.
