tea bag rest

tea set | January 8th, 2025

I stumbled upon a little something the other day, and I just had to share it because it’s been a game-changer for my tea-drinking routine. I’m talking about a tea bag rest. Sounds simple, right? But let me tell you, it’s the little things that make a difference.

So, here’s the deal. I love my tea, especially in the morning. But it’s always been a bit of a hassle – where do you put that dripping tea bag after you’re done steeping? Leave it in the cup? Nope, makes the tea too strong. Put it on a saucer? Sure, but then you’ve got a wet mess to deal with later. And sometimes, I’m just too lazy to get up to put the tea bag in the trash can while I want to sit on the sofa and enjoy my tea time.

That’s where this little gadget comes in. I was browsing online, looking for, well, I don’t even remember what, and I saw this thing called a tea bag rest. It’s basically a tiny dish, just big enough for a tea bag. I thought, “Why not?” and ordered one. It wasn’t even expensive, just a few bucks.

When it arrived, I was like, “Okay, let’s see what this thing can do.” It was nothing fancy, just a small, white ceramic dish with a cute little flower shape. I made my tea as usual, and when it was time to take out the tea bag, I just placed it on this little rest. And guess what? No drips, no mess, and my tea stayed just the right strength.

Here’s How I Use It

  • First, I boil water and pour it over my tea bag in a cup.
  • Then, I let it steep for about 3-5 minutes. Sometimes a bit longer if I’m using sugar and water, just to make sure the flavor’s strong enough.
  • Once it’s steeped, I take out the tea bag.
  • And here’s the magic part – I just rest it on my new little tea bag holder.
  • Finally, I enjoy my tea without worrying about a mess.

I’ve tried a few different ones since then. There’s one with a pretty watercolor busy bees design, another made of melamine with an oval shape, and even one that’s a bit fancier, made of bamboo and can hold a bunch of tea bags. But honestly, the simple ceramic one is my favorite.

It’s such a small thing, but it’s made my tea time so much more enjoyable. No more balancing tea bags on spoons or rushing to the trash can. Just pure, uninterrupted tea bliss. If you’re a tea lover like me, you’ve got to try this out. It’s a tiny little thing that makes a big difference.
