I went to town the other day, saw some real pretty tea cups blue and white, reminded me of the ones my grandma used to have. Those things were somethin’ else. We used to drink tea from ’em every Sunday after church, she’d make it in that old teapot, pour it in them blue and white cups. Now, where was I? Oh yeah, these cups I saw. Real fancy lookin’, with flowers and such all over ’em.

They got all kinds, you know? Big ones, small ones, some with them little saucers underneath. I saw some called Jomop, these tea cups blue and white were made of that ceramic stuff, they said they were safe for the freezer, good for the women gift. They also had another brand, ArtbyHannah. That set looked real fancy, came with a big teapot too, all blue and white, said it was a 37oz teapot set with infuser. Never heard of an infuser before, but it sounded important. Can put it in the dishwasher too. That’s somethin’, ain’t it?

Then there’s this other one, fanquare, had 21 pieces, all flowery and pretty. Said it was for 6 people. They call it a British tea cup and saucer set. Guess them British folks like their tea, huh? Reminds me, my neighbor’s boy, he went to England once, said they drink tea all the time over there. I recon it’s a real big deal. Maybe I will buy some to entertain my guest.

They got these Japanese ones too, tea cups blue and white, looked a bit different. Saw ’em online, lots of ’em. Said they were antique and vintage, real old, I guess. Don’t know much about Japanese stuff, but they sure do look nice. They called them “yunomi”, funny name. Said it’s for daily tea drinking, got a long history, shaped like a cylinder, no handles on ‘em. Said you can hold ’em in your hands to feel the warmness of the tea. Sounds cozy, don’t it?

There’s this other brand, Spode Portmeirion, they had these blue Italian tea cups blue and white with saucers, said they were jumbo size. 20-ounce, that’s a big cup of tea! Could use ’em for coffee too, or lattes, espressos, whatever those are. Sounds like city folk drinks to me. I just like my tea plain and simple, like my grandma used to make.

I saw another set, 6 cups, they called it Eastern Asian design, had them peony flowers on ’em. Pretty things, them peonies. Used to have some in my garden, but the darn rabbits kept eatin’ ’em. These cups were ceramic too, seemed like most of ’em are made of that stuff.

They had these things called saucers, they used to be for catchin’ tea drips, now they hold the teaspoon. I remember my grandma always had a saucer with her cup, said it was proper. Don’t know about proper, but it did keep the table clean, I guess. When making tea is that it’s made in a teapot—that is a real cup of tea, she also, said. This is very important, as I remember.

These tea cups blue and white, they ain’t cheap, you know? But they sure are pretty. Might have to treat myself one of these days. Reminds me of the old days, drinkin’ tea with grandma. Those were good times. Simple times. Maybe I’ll get a set with them peony flowers, just to remind me of my garden. Or maybe them Japanese ones, just for somethin’ different. Who knows. I will take my time to consider.

So many choices, these tea cups blue and white. Makes a head spin! But it’s fun to look, ain’t it? Brings back memories. Maybe I’ll go back to town next week, take another look. Maybe even buy a set. We’ll see. For now, I’m gonna go make myself a cup of tea. In my old mug, of course. It ain’t blue and white, but it does the job just fine.
