tea ceremony
Okay, here’s my blog post about using tea tree oil in the bath:
So, I’ve been trying to find more natural ways to relax and unwind after a long day. I’d heard about the benefits of tea tree oil, and I’m a big fan of baths, so I thought, why not combine the two? Let’s see how it went down.
First, I gathered my stuff. Obviously, I needed tea tree oil. I made sure it was 100% pure essential oil – none of that diluted stuff. I also grabbed a carrier oil because I know you’re not supposed to put essential oils directly on your skin. I chose sweet almond oil, it is what I had on hand.
I started running the bathwater, making sure it was nice and warm, not scalding hot. While the tub was filling up, I mixed the tea tree oil with the almond oil. I used maybe like, 6 drops of tea tree oil and about a tablespoon of almond oil. Just eyeballed it, really.
I poured that oil to running water, I made sure to swish the water around to distribute the oils evenly.
The smell hit me right away. Tea tree oil has a strong, medicinal scent. It wasn’t unpleasant, but definitely, it is very… present. I hopped in the tub and just… soaked. The water felt nice, and the aroma, after a while, got kind of soothing.
After about 20 minutes, I got out and patted myself dry. My skin felt soft, and I did feel pretty relaxed. The tea tree smell lingered a bit, but it wasn’t overpowering.
I also noticed a small pimple on my back, and during my bath time, that pimple seemed less red and angry. I’ve heard tea tree oil is good for acne, so that’s a plus!
Overall, I’d say my tea tree oil bath experiment was a success! It was a relaxing, simple way to incorporate a natural remedy into my routine. I think I’ll definitely do it again, maybe even try adding some Epsom salts next time. Just be sure to use a carrier oil, and don’t overdo the tea tree – a little goes a long way!
