tea tree oil oral rinse

So, I’ve been trying out this whole tea tree oil thing for my mouth, like a mouthwash, you know? Heard about it online and thought, why not give it a shot? First off, finding the stuff wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I went to a couple of stores, and nothing. Then I remembered, “Oh yeah, the internet!” So I hopped online and looked around.

Finally found some, ordered it, and waited. Took a few days, but hey, it finally showed up at my door. Ripped open the package, and there it was, a little bottle of tea tree oil. Now, the instructions on the bottle were kinda vague, just said something about diluting it. Diluting it with what? How much? No idea.

Back to the internet I went. Found some people talking about using it as a mouthwash, and they were saying to mix it with water. Okay, water, I got that. Some said a few drops, others said a whole bunch. I decided to play it safe and start with just a couple of drops in a small glass of water.

Mixed it up, and man, did it smell strong! Like, really strong. Almost knocked me back a bit. Anyway, I took a little sip and swished it around in my mouth. The taste? Let’s just say it’s not exactly minty fresh. It’s, uh, unique. Kind of like a mix between medicine and, I don’t know, a cleaning product?

I swished for about 30 seconds, like the internet folks suggested, then spat it out. My mouth felt kinda weird after, a little tingly maybe. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Did this a few times, different days, playing around with the amount of tea tree oil. Too much and it felt like I was gargling with pure fire, way too strong. Too little, and it was like, what’s the point?

My Little Experiment Details

  • Tried different stores: First, I physically went to some stores. Waste of time.
  • Ordered online: Found it online after searching for a bit.
  • Waited for delivery: It arrived after a few days.
  • Read the bottle: Instructions were super unclear.
  • Searched online for ratios: Found some advice online about mixing with water.
  • Mixed with water: Tried different amounts of tea tree oil.
  • Used as mouthwash: Swished it around for about 30 seconds, then spat.
  • Noticed the smell: It’s really, really strong.
  • Experienced the taste: It’s not good, folks. Not good.
  • Felt a tingle: My mouth felt a bit tingly afterward.
  • Experimented with dilution: Tried different water-to-oil ratios to find the right balance.

Honestly, I’m not sure if this tea tree oil mouthwash thing is for me. The taste is pretty intense, and I haven’t really noticed any major changes in my mouth. Maybe I need to use it longer, or maybe it’s just not my cup of tea, hah! I might keep trying, see if the taste grows on me, but I also heard something about chamomile and ginger, maybe that is worth trying.

Anyway, that’s my little adventure with tea tree oil mouthwash. Anyone else tried this? Let me know if you had better luck than me!
