Okay, so today I’m diving into something that’s been on my to-do list for a while – finding some really good black-owned tea companies. I’ve been wanting to support more black-owned businesses, and since I’m a huge tea lover, this seemed like a good place to start.

First thing I did was hit up the internet, you know, the usual Google search. I typed in something like “best black-owned tea companies” and started browsing through the results. I came across a bunch of articles and blog posts listing out different companies. There were a lot more than I expected, which was awesome.

Making a List

After I found some promising leads, I started making a list. I wanted to keep track of the names of the companies, what kind of teas they offered, and any other interesting info I found. I jotted down notes like “organic options,” “unique blends,” or “cool backstories.” It got a bit messy, but hey, that’s how I roll.

• LaRue 1690: It says the inspiration was from many travel experiences. I love travel, I need to try it.
• Ellis Island Tea: They said it was a cold tea brew, from Detroit.
• Harney & Sons: I have seen many suggestions about this brand, it seems like a good option for strong black tea.

Digging Deeper

Once I had my list, I started visiting each company’s website. I wanted to get a feel for their brand and see what they were all about. Some of them had these really cool stories about how they got started, like family recipes passed down through generations or a passion for bringing unique flavors to the market. It was pretty inspiring, to be honest.

Making My First Purchase

After browsing around, I finally decided to make my first purchase. I picked a company called “LaRue 1690” – their blends sounded really interesting, and I liked their whole vibe. It said the inspiration was from many travel experiences, I am a big fan of traveling so I think I might like it. I ended up ordering a few different kinds of tea to try out. I couldn’t find their official website, but I did find them on Amazon.

While I was at it, I noticed a few other names that kept popping up, like “Ellis Island Tea.” They’re apparently known for their cold tea brew, I’ll definitely be checking them out next time. It’s based in Detroit. Also, “Harney & Sons” seems like a solid choice for strong, high-quality black tea. I’ve seen people recommend them a lot, I’ll probably try it in the future to see how it tastes. Someone mentioned “Akina Earl Grey” from Kenya, which sounds interesting too.

More to Explore

I also saw some recommendations for brands like “Traditional Medicinals,” “Pukka Herbs,” “Gaia Herbs,” “Arbor Teas,” “Rishi Tea,” and “Mountain Rose Herbs.” They might not all be black-owned, but they focus on organic and herbalist-made teas, which is cool. Then there’s “Camellia,” which I read is the largest privately owned tea producer in the world, with some really old and famous tea estates.

Anyway, this is just the beginning of my journey into the world of black-owned tea. I’m excited to try out my new teas and keep exploring all the other amazing companies out there. I’ll definitely keep you guys updated on my favorites!
