Well, howdy there! Let’s yak a bit about somethin’ called “unsweetened black tea.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it ain’t nothin’ more than plain ol’ tea without sugar, the kind I been drinkin’ since I was a young’un.
What is this unsweetened black tea, anyway?
It’s just tea leaves, see? You take them leaves, dump ’em in hot water, and let ’em steep. That’s it. No sugar, no milk, no nothin’ else. Just plain tea. Some folks like it iced, some like it hot. Me? I like it hot, strong enough to trot a mouse across.
Now, I ain’t no doctor, but I hear tell it’s good for ya. They say it can help with your sugar, keep it from goin’ all haywire. Keeps your sugar levels steady, they say. And if you got that sugar problem, seems like this tea might be just the ticket after you eat. Keeps things on an even keel, ya know?
And get this, it’s got somethin’ called “caffeine” in it. Wakes you right up, it does. More than that green tea stuff, that’s for sure. A cup of this black tea, and I’m ready to go, hoein’ the garden or chasin’ chickens, whatever needs doin’. Gives you a good kick in the pants, you could say. Some folks say it’s got too much of that caffeine stuff, makes ’em jittery. But me? I can drink it all day long and still sleep like a log.
I reckon it’s got different amounts of that caffeine stuff, dependin’ on how you make it. But it’ll sure give you a jolt, more than that green tea for sure.
Now, some folks are all about that green tea, sayin’ it’s good for keepin’ ya hydrated. But this black tea does the same thing, near as I can tell. You’re drinkin’ water, ain’t ya? It’s just got that tea flavor in it. Kepps your insides runnin’ smooth. Helps ya pee good, too, which is important when you get to be my age. Flushes out all the bad stuff, they say. Keeps your kidneys happy. And a happy kidney is a happy you, that’s what I always say.
And here’s somethin’ else I heard. This black tea got them “flavonoids” in it. Fancy word, I know. But they’re good for ya, that’s the long and short of it. Full of them good flavonoids. You gotta drink a few cups a day to get enough of ’em, though. But that ain’t no problem for me. I drink more tea than a fish drinks water.
Now, where can you get this unsweetened black tea? Well, pretty much anywhere, I reckon. You can buy them tea bags at the store, or you can get them loose leaves, if you’re fancy like that. I just use the bags myself. Easy peasy. And cheap, too, which is important when you’re livin’ on a fixed income like me. Easy to find, easy to make, and easy on the wallet. You can find pretty good prices from folks selling it online too. You can find most anything these days on them computors. Them fancy delivery folks will bring it right to your door, just like magic.
So there you have it. Unsweetened black tea. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it’s good for ya, keeps ya goin’, and tastes just fine. At least to this old gal. Maybe you ought to give it a try. You might just like it. And if you don’t, well, more for me, I say.
But remember, I ain’t no doctor, so if you got questions you should ask a real doctor. I just know what I like and what seems to work for me. And this here black tea, it works just fine.
