Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with making my apartment smell amazing lately. I walked into a Westin hotel a while back, and I was like, “Whoa, what IS that?” It was their signature White Tea scent, and I immediately needed it in my life. So, the journey began!
First, I hit up the internet. I searched “Westin White Tea scent” and, you know, went down the rabbit hole. There are a ton of copycat recipes and premade diffusers, and It was a bit overwhilming.
I decided I would take notes and share the results with you guys.
Initially, I grabbed a reed diffuser that claimed to be a dupe. It was…okay. It had a faint white tea smell, but it wasn’t quite the same. It was missing that certain je ne sais quoi, that crisp, clean, and slightly floral note that I remembered.
Then I got a little more serious. I found some essential oil blends online, also claiming to be “Westin-inspired.” One was a mix of white tea, cedarwood, and vanilla. I ordered it, and when it arrived, I popped some into my diffuser.
The first version was too vanilla-heavy. It smelled nice, don’t get me wrong, but it was more like a vanilla cookie than a fancy hotel lobby.I didn’t give up easily.
The second one with more cedarwood, now that was closer! The cedarwood added this woody, grounding element that balanced out the sweetness of the vanilla and really let the white tea shine. It was still a bit, but it was really close.
I tried the third one and BINGO, the smell is 99% the same!
I’m still tweaking things – I might add a tiny drop of something extra, maybe a touch of something floral like a very light jasmine, just to see what happens. But honestly, the cedarwood, white tea, and vanilla blend is pretty darn close to the real deal.
So, my apartment is now a soothing, luxurious-smelling haven. Mission accomplished… mostly! I’ll keep you guys posted on any further fragrance adventures.
