You know what? I’ve been trying to make my own black tea oil lately. It’s not as hard as it sounds, and I thought I’d share my little experiment with you all.

First, I gathered some loose black tea leaves. Not the fancy kind, just regular ones from the grocery store. Then, I grabbed some carrier oil. You can use any, like olive oil or coconut oil, but I went with sweet almond oil because I like how it feels on my skin.

Next, I measured out about a cup of oil and poured it into a saucepan. I added a few spoonfuls of the black tea leaves to the oil. No need to be precise here, just eyeball it. I put the saucepan on the stove over low heat. The key is to warm the oil gently, not boil it. This helps the tea leaves release their, uh, tea-ness, into the oil.

I let it simmer for a good while, maybe around an hour or so. I kept an eye on it, stirring occasionally. You’ll start to notice the oil taking on a darker color, and it’ll smell like black tea. That’s when you know it’s working.

  • Heat a cup of carrier oil.
  • Add a few spoonfuls of black tea leaves.
  • Simmer for about an hour.
  • Strain the mixture.

Once I was happy with the color and smell, I took the saucepan off the heat. I got a fine-mesh strainer and lined it with some cheesecloth. You can use a coffee filter too, but cheesecloth works better, in my opinion. I carefully poured the oil through the strainer into a clean jar. This gets rid of all the tea leaves and leaves you with nice, clean oil.

Finally, I let the oil cool down completely before putting a lid on the jar. And there you have it, homemade black tea oil! It is so easy to make something by myself.

I’ve been using this oil on my skin, and I quite like it. I heard that “Green and black teas are rich in plant compounds called flavonoids. These compounds act as antioxidants to help fight underlying cell damage caused by reactive.” So, I think it can help me to keep young. It’s moisturizing, and the black tea smell is pretty relaxing. You can also use it in your hair, I guess. It’s pretty versatile.

So yeah, that’s my black tea oil adventure. It was a fun little project, and I ended up with something I can actually use. If you’re into DIY stuff or just want to try something new, give it a shot. It’s a cheap and easy way to make your own beauty product. And who knows, maybe you’ll discover some amazing benefits of black tea oil that I haven’t even thought of!
