- What to Put in Black Tea: Simple Ways to Spice it Up
tea ceremony
Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my black tea lately, trying to figure out what tastes good in it. You know, just experimenting. It all started because I was bored with my usual plain black tea.
First, I dumped in some sugar. Just regular granulated sugar. It was okay, but nothing special. Then I tried honey. That was a bit better, a little more interesting flavor. I even got fancy and used some maple syrup once. It was alright, but kind of overpowered the tea flavor, you know?
Next, I thought, “Why not fruit?” So I squeezed some lemon in there. Classic, right? It was pretty good, especially when I had a cold. I also tried orange slices. That was different, but not really my thing. One time, I tossed in a few raspberries. The color was cool, but the taste was just so-so.
Then I got this idea to add spices. I sprinkled in some cinnamon. That was a winner! Especially in the fall, it’s like a warm hug in a mug. I also experimented with a bit of nutmeg. Not bad, but a little goes a long way. Oh, and I even threw in a couple of cloves once. It was interesting, kind of like those spiced teas you buy, but a bit much for every day.
Of course, I had to try milk. I usually use regular cow’s milk, and it makes the tea all creamy and smooth. But then I tried almond milk. It’s okay if you like that nutty flavor. I even went wild and used coconut milk once. It was kind of tropical tasting, not my usual style, but fun to try.
Finally, I thought about adding some herbs. I snipped some fresh mint from my garden and dropped it in. That was really refreshing, especially on a hot day. I also tried dried lavender once. It smelled amazing, but the taste was a bit too flowery for me.
So, after all that messing around, here’s what I like best:
Honestly, it’s all about what you’re in the mood for. Just grab your black tea and start experimenting! You might surprise yourself.
