I spent some time cleaning it up, and it made a big difference. I used a soft cloth and some silver polish, and now it looks much better. But still, those scratches do affect the value, I guess.

I mean, I like it, but I’m no expert on silver designs. I tried to find similar designs online to compare, but there were so many different ones that it got a bit confusing.

I also looked into the history of these things. Apparently, they started making tea sets way back in ancient China, but those were probably porcelain, not silver. Silver tea sets became popular much later. Knowing this made me appreciate the set a bit more, but it didn’t really help with the value.

Some were really expensive, and some were not so much.

After all this, I’m still not 100% sure about the value. It seems like it depends on a lot of things: the age, the maker, the condition, and the design. I guess the next step would be to take it to an expert, like an appraiser or someone who deals with antiques. They could probably give me a more accurate estimate. But for now, I have a better idea of what I’m dealing with, and that’s something.
