tea set
Okay, here’s my blog post about making a flowery tea set:
So, I’ve been wanting a super cute, floral tea set for, like, ever. The ones in stores are either way too expensive or just not my style. I decided, “You know what? I’m gonna try and make my own!” It was a bit of a journey, let me tell you!
First, I needed the basics. I went to a thrift store and found some plain white ceramic teacups and saucers. Score! They were a little dusty, but nothing a good scrub couldn’t fix.
Next up, I needed a plan. I’m no artist, so I kept it simple. I practiced drawing some flower designs on paper first. Little daisies, roses, and some leafy bits. Once I felt kinda confident, I lightly sketched the designs onto the teacups and saucers with a pencil. The pencil marks would disappear later, so I wasn’t too worried about being perfect.
This was the fun part! I carefully started painting, following my pencil sketches. I used the thin brushes to get the details right. It definitely took some patience, and I messed up a few times (thank goodness for paper towels!), but it was so relaxing. I did one color at a time, letting each layer dry before adding the next. This prevented the colors from bleeding into each other, which was important.
After all the paint was completely dry (I waited a full 24 hours, just to be safe), I applied a couple of coats of the food-safe sealant. This made the tea set water-resistant and protected the paint. It also gave everything a nice, glossy finish. I follow instruccion let it dry according to the sealant instructions – usually another day or two.
And that’s it! My very own, handmade flowery tea set. It’s not perfect, but I absolutely love it. It’s got that handmade charm, and it makes my tea time feel extra special. Plus, I can proudly say, “I made this!” It was a really fun project, and I totally recommend giving it a try if you’re feeling crafty!
