white tea
Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “white iced tea” recipes floating around, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I’m a big fan of iced tea, especially in the summer, so I was curious.
First, I had to figure out what “white tea” even was. Turns out, it’s just a less processed type of tea. Okay, cool. I went to the store and grabbed a box of white tea bags – they were surprisingly easy to find, just in the regular tea aisle.
Next, I brewed the tea. I boiled some water and poured it over a couple of tea bags in a big pitcher. The instructions on the box said to steep it for like, 5-7 minutes, but I like my tea a bit stronger, so I went for a full 7 minutes. Then take the tea bag out.
While it was steeping, I prepped the other stuff. I squeezed some fresh lemons – I used two because, again, I like things a bit stronger, and more tart. And put in some ice box in the pitcher.
Once the tea was done steeping, I took out the tea bags and poured the lemon juice into the pitcher. I also added a little bit of sweetener. You can use whatever you like – sugar, honey, whatever. I just used a tiny bit of simple syrup because I didn’t want it too sweet.
Then, the important part: letting it cool down. I popped the pitcher in the fridge for, like, at least an hour. You gotta let it get nice and cold, otherwise it’s just not the same.
So, yeah, that’s my white iced tea experiment. It’s a thumbs-up from me!
