Okay, so today I want to talk about making white matcha tea. I’ve been seeing it all over the place and it looked interesting, so I decided to give it a try.

First, I needed to get my hands on some white matcha. Now, this wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I went to a few stores but no luck. Ended up ordering it online. It’s a bit pricey, but I figured, why not treat myself?

When the package finally arrived, I was so excited to open it. The powder was this really pale, almost silvery-green color. Looked way different than the regular green matcha I’m used to.

Next, I heated up some water. Not boiling, just hot enough. I read somewhere that you don’t want to use boiling water because it can make the matcha bitter. Learned that the hard way before, let me tell you.

  • I scooped a teaspoon of the white matcha into my bowl.
  • Then, I poured a little bit of the hot water in and started whisking.
  • I used this bamboo whisk thingy I got a while back.
  • It took a bit of effort to get all the clumps out and make it nice and frothy.

Once it was all mixed, I added some more hot water and gave it another good whisk. Then I decided to add some honey, just a little for sweetness, and a splash of almond milk because I like my tea creamy.

The Taste Test

Alright, so how did it taste? Honestly, it was pretty good! It had this light, delicate flavor. Kinda nutty, kinda sweet. Definitely smoother and less grassy than regular matcha. I can see why people like it. It’s like, a more chill version of green matcha. The price is also reasonable for me, I love this stuff.

Would I make it again? Yeah, I think so. It’s a nice change from my usual routine. Plus, it felt a little fancy, you know? Like I was having a special treat. Maybe next time I’ll try it iced. Or maybe I’ll get wild and add some lavender or something. The possibilities are endless!
