Okay, guys, so today I wanted to try my hand at making a white tea jasmine candle. I’ve been seeing these things everywhere, and they smell amazing, but they’re kind of pricey, you know?

So I thought, “Why not try to make my own?”

Getting Started

First, I gathered all my materials. I already had some soy wax flakes from a previous candle-making experiment. Then I ordered some jasmine essential oil online – that stuff can be expensive, but it’s worth it for the scent. I also picked up some white tea bags from the grocery store and some candle wicks and containers from a local craft store.

The Tea Infusion

  • I started by making a super strong white tea. I used about five tea bags for a small cup of water and let it steep for a good hour. I wanted to get that tea scent in there.
  • After, I melted down the wax in a double boiler. Just an old pot over simmering water, nothing fancy.

Mixing It All Together

  • Once the wax was all melted, I carefully stirred in the cooled white tea. It was a bit tricky because I didn’t want to add too much liquid, but I wanted that nice tea fragrance.
  • Then came the jasmine essential oil. I added just a few drops at a time, sniffing as I went, until it smelled just right – floral, but not too overpowering, with a hint of that clean white tea scent. I also added a tiny bit of rose oil to give it some extra floral flavor.

Pouring and Setting

  • I stuck a wick to the bottom of each container using a little melted wax.
  • Then, I slowly poured the wax mixture into the containers, making sure the wicks stayed centered. I used a chopstick to hold them in place.

The Final Touches

I let the candles cool completely overnight. The next day, I trimmed the wicks down to about a quarter inch. And that was it! My homemade white tea jasmine candles were ready.

Honestly, they turned out pretty great. The scent is amazing – it fills the room but isn’t too strong, and it has that nice, calming vibe that jasmine is known for. Plus, it has a subtle white tea smell that just makes it even better. And they make that cool crackling sound when they burn, which is kind of neat. I’m definitely going to make these again. Maybe I’ll try adding some other essential oils next time, just to experiment a bit. I heard that cedar might be a good choice to mix with.
