tea ceremony
Alright, let’s talk about these white tea towels, you know, the ones you use in the kitchen. I ain’t no fancy writer or nothin’, so I’m just gonna tell it to ya straight, like it is.
What are these white tea towels anyway?
Well, they’re just cloths, see? Mostly white, though I reckon you can get ’em in other colors too. But we’re talkin’ about the white ones today. They’re for dryin’ dishes, wipin’ your hands, and sometimes, if you’re like me, you use ’em to grab a hot pot handle when you can’t find your potholder. Lord knows I’ve burned my fingers more than once!
Now, I heard some folks say these towels started way back in England, somethin’ about keepin’ teapots warm. Fancy that! But for me, they’ve always been about keepin’ things clean in the kitchen. You spill somethin’, you grab a tea towel. You wash somethin’, you dry it with a tea towel. Simple as that.
What kind of white tea towels can you get?
Oh, there’s all sorts, let me tell ya. Some are plain, just plain white cotton. Those are good for everyday use. Then you got some that are kinda fancy, with little bumps or patterns on ’em. They call that “waffle weave” or somethin’. Makes ’em good for soakin’ up water, I guess.
And don’t even get me started on the packs! You can buy ’em one at a time, or you can get a whole pack of ’em. I seen packs of 4, packs of 10, even packs of 15! Guess it depends on how messy you are in the kitchen. Me? I go through a lot of ’em, what with the grandkids comin’ over and all.
Where can you buy these white tea towels?
Shoot, everywhere! You can get ’em at the store, that big one, whatchamacallit…Amazon? Yeah, they got a whole bunch of ’em there. Different brands, different sizes, different prices. Or you can go to the regular stores, you know, the ones down the street. They got ’em too. Heck, even the dollar store sometimes has ’em. Just gotta look around.
Why white, though?
Well, I reckon it’s ’cause you can see the dirt easy. That way, you know when it’s time to wash ’em. And you can bleach ’em too, get ’em nice and clean. Though I gotta say, bleach wears ’em out faster. But sometimes, you just gotta get ’em good and clean, you know?
Taking Care of Your White Tea Towels
Now, some folks like to keep ’em lookin’ all pristine and white, but me? I say a little stain ain’t gonna hurt nobody. It shows it’s been used, shows it’s been workin’ hard. But still, you gotta wash ’em regular, you know? Toss ’em in the washin’ machine with some hot water and soap, and they’ll be good as new…well, almost as new.
So, what’s the big deal about white tea towels?
Nothin’ really, I guess. They’re just towels, just pieces of cloth. But they’re important, you know? They help keep things clean, help keep things dry. And they’ve been around for a long, long time. Grandma used ’em, my mama used ’em, and now I use ’em. Guess that makes ’em kinda special, huh?
And that’s all I gotta say about white tea towels. They ain’t fancy, but they get the job done. And that’s all that matters, right? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go fold a load of laundry. Lord knows it never ends!
And hey, if you wanna get some real special ones, you can even get ’em with your name on ’em, or with little pictures. But me? I’m happy with the plain white ones. They work just fine for me.
