Okay, so I’ve been on this tea kick lately, trying to cut back on coffee, you know? And I got curious about how much caffeine is in different teas. Specifically, I wanted to compare white tea and black tea. So, I decided to do a little experiment.
First, I went out and bought some white tea and some black tea. I made sure they were both plain, no fancy flavors or anything. Then I read up a bit online, and it said white tea usually has way less caffeine than black tea. Like, white tea might have around 10 milligrams of caffeine, while black tea can have up to 60 milligrams or even more per serving. Sounds about right, so I figured I’d put it to the test.
I brewed a cup of each tea, following the instructions on the packages. I used the same amount of water, same temperature, and steeped them for the same amount of time. Just trying to keep things consistent.
After drinking each tea, I tried to pay attention to how I felt. Did I feel more alert? Jittery? Nothing at all?
With the white tea, I honestly didn’t feel much of a caffeine kick. Maybe a tiny bit more awake, but it was super mild. With the black tea, though, I definitely felt a difference. I felt more focused, more energized, but not in an overwhelming way. It was a nice little boost, to be honest.
So, based on my little experiment, it seems like the info I read online was pretty accurate. White tea is definitely the way to go if you’re looking for a low-caffeine option. And black tea is a good middle ground between white tea and coffee. I mean it has a good amount of caffeine, not too much, not too little. It’s all about what you’re looking for, I guess. This was a fun little test, and now I feel like I know my teas a bit better!
